  • Do you have any more information on HC Reynolds?

Also what was a “Food Office”? I’ve never heard this term before.

    Thanks in advance, 🙂

  • Hello Maree
During WW2 certain food items were rationed in Britain. Each person had a ration book which detailed their allowance for items like meat or egg powder and other things. The Food office administered the rationing system and it was where you would pick up your ration book.

HC Reynolds was a butchers in Chatteris. The butchers had its slaughter house in an area near the shop which is now the entrance part of Boudicea Court. The shop is now transformed into a guest House known as Bramley House.
If you have more questions please ask. We hope you have enjoyed looking at the archive photos.
