    Ernest Barnes was born about 1892. In 1911 he was a farm labourer, like his father Arthur, and lived with his parents on Chapel Lane, Bridge St in Chatteris. By the time that he died he had married and was living at 111, New Rd, Chatteris.
    Ernest enlisted in March, he was originally 13877 of the Suffolk Regiment. He later became a bomb instructor and died in Ireland in an accident. Ernest is buried at Chatteris Meeks Cemetery.
