  • The four cottages known as Gas House Row were owned by John Maltman, bargemaster, at the time of his death in 1902 and bequeathed to his eldest son, William Maltman Jackson. The cottage nearest the railway line was later occupied by Bernard “Burt” & Flo Bishop, son and daughter in law of Emily Maltman (nee Jackson) & Fred Bishop.
