Gas Lamps Chatteris Council Chamber & Museum
The last remaining Gas Lamp posts being erected outside of Chatteris Council Chamber & Museum.
The project was first mooted around 2 years ago, from May 2017, when the Street lights in Chatteris were replaced for new energy efficient lights and the 2 posts were retained from Wood Street, Chatteris.
At the time Cllr Julie Smith suggested a few posts should be retained for future generations to view. The idea was further developed by members of Chatteris Town Council with Cllr Chris Howes producing various designs for the suggested location.
Grant money to finance the project was generously donated from Court Leete, Redtile Tesco and the Solar Farm project , many thanks go to them as the project would not have been completed and to Chatteris Town Clerk Joanna Melton for her hard work and time filling in application forms to obtain the grants.
