Chatteris WW1 Soldier William Green (1034), Chatteris Remembers Biography
Private William Green 1st Bn Lancashire Fusiliers (1034) Died: 30 May 1915 William Green was son of William and Harriet Green was born in 1888 in Chatteris. His father was a brewers labourer at “The Three Horseshoes ” pub, 12 High Street. In 1911 William had already joined the Lancashire Fusiliers, he enlisted in Ely, and was by then stationed in India. By 1915 Harriet was living at 41 High St, Chatteris, it is assumed that her husband had died. William died in Gallipoli on 30 May 1915 and is buried at Twelve Tree Copse Cemetery in Turkey.
