Pte William Graves G/63273 19th London Bn, Middlesex Regiment Died: 01 September 1918 William Graves was born about 1886 in Chatteris. In 1911 he was married and living with his wife, Esther, and new born baby in Station Street. He was a farm labourer. By the time war broke out William worked at the Engineering Works and played in their football team. By that time he had 3 children. They lived at 50 Huntingdon Rd by then. William initially enlisted on September 23rd 1914, joining the Suffolk Regiment (No. 15535) before being transferred to the Middlesex Regiment in August 1918. William was killed in action on 1st September 1918. He has no known grave and is commemorated on Vis En Artois Memorial, between Arras and Cambrai.
