  • a thing puzzling me, is the front set of rails , which are the modern flat bottomed rails, rather than bullhead rails, I had no idea these rails were used on the March Chatteris St Ives line.

  • The gentleman pictured is my father, Basil Wells, who came to Chatteris after WWII and started his working life at Chatteris Gas works, as a stoker. In his years here he worked with Eric Bunting going round houses to fix cookers etc. He stayed in Chatteris, marrying Dorothy Edgley. He worked for Eastern gas until his retirement.
